Charles City woman arrested for marijuana possession after speeding in work zone

INDEPENDENCE, IOWA – A Charles City woman has been arrested for marijuana possession after speeding in a work zone.

On Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at approximately 10:40 AM, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 19-year-old Jadyn Marie Hegtvedt of Charles City. Hegtvedt was arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for an original charge of Possession of Controlled Substance – Marijuana (serious misdemeanor) and was held at the Buchanan County Jail.

Records show Hegtvedt was stopped by the Iowa State Patrol on May 8, 2020 in Buchanan county for speeding in a work zone, up to 20 miles per hour over the limit. The Patrol also charged Hegtvedt with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hegtvedt has been appointed a public defender, records show, with further court dates ahead.

Legalize it! That huge windfall of cash from sales will be a billion a year. Fund schools, roads, police. Small businesses are done. State budgets are in shambles. Only way ahead is inflation. Unless the stock market crashes. And with so many pensions plans done away with the 401 k plans will absorb the losses. 6 months till vaccine shot will be available. Cannabis money is very generous to the states coffers. Do it!

It makes too much sense to legalize it so it won’t be legalized.
