AMES – Iowa State will fall out of the top-25 rankings after a spry Sun Belt team from Louisiana came to Ames and knocked off the Cyclones, 31-14.
Jack Trice Stadium was more quiet than normal on game day Saturday as fans were kept out due to Coronavirus concerns. They would have been disappointed anyway, as Iowa State looked like the slower, less-athletic team all day versus Louisiana.
Iowa State (0-1) led at the half, 14-10, after running touchdowns. But the Cyclones gave up a 95-yard kickoff touchdown run in the first have, then a punt return touchdown and another big pass play in the second half to allow Louisiana (1-0) to get ahead and stay there.
Iowa State entered the game ranked #23 in the nation but will surely drop from the ranking after the loss. The Cyclones next play on September 26 at TCU.
