RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A Cerro Gordo county dump truck driver was hurt when his vehicle rolled over.
At approximately 8:40 AM on Aug. 3, 35-year-old Cole Despenas of Mason City was working for Cerro Gordo County Engineer Department performing road maintenance on Thrush Avenue north of the Avenue to the Saints. Due to the condition of the shoulder of the roadway, the front tire left the roadway, shifting the gravel in the dump box, causing the vehicle to tip on its side.
As a result of the accident, Cole Despenas was transported to Mercy One by private vehicle.
The accident remains under investigation by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office.
