MARSHALLTOWN – It is 2020, so that means Mason City football might be a juggernaut, remaining undefeated after a 28-0 win over Marshalltown.
The John Lee coached Mason City Mohawks did what no one thought they could ever do – open the season on the road against a bigger school, pitch a shutout on defense, and remain undefeated.
Connor Dalen scored four touchdowns for Mason City. Jahmen Zimmerman had “a very large sack and forced fumble,” and Eric Lensing had three touchbacks, according to the team’s social media.
Coach John Lee said after the game, “it was these kids. I have not seen such a physical Mohawk team in a long time. These kids are paying their dues, now they are just collecting their checks.”
Mason City is now 1-0 on the season while Marshalltown drops to 0-1. The Mohawks will play Fort Dodge on September 4 at home.
Big deal winning one game is not winning the state title plus marshalltown does not have their best players because of covid it is all down hill after this
It’s 2020, Mohawks will win out the string.
Mohawk football, congratulations on the win.
