BEDFORD, IOWA – A man convicted of indecent exposure in Minnesota has ben charged with murder after a woman was found knifed to death in this small Iowa town.
On Saturday, June 20th, 2020 at approximately 10:55 pm, the Taylor County Communications Center received a 911 call from 108 Pearl Street in Bedford, Iowa, reporting a death. Deputies with the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department responded to investigate the 911 call, and upon arrival observed Penny Sue Godfirnon, 62, of Bedford, had been assaulted with a knife. Godfirnon was later pronounced deceased.
Authorities identified a male suspect as Christian Andrew May, 32, of Bedford. May was transported to the Taylor County Jail and arrested on the following charges:
- First-Degree Murder – Class A Felony
- Willful Injury – Class C Felony
The Taylor County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
Christian Andrew May is listed on the Iowa sex offender registry as convicted in Minnesota earlier this year for indecent exposure.
