CLARKSVILLE, IOWA – Police stopped an alleged speeding marijuana smoker in Clarksville
On May 7, 2020, the Clarksville Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a black Honda Accord for excessive speed – 58 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone. While speaking with the driver, identified as 19-year-old Heriberto Villa of Waterloo, the officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Butler County Deputy and his K-9 partner arrived on scene and completed an open air sniff near the vehicle and confirmed the presence of illegal narcotics. A search warrant was later issued and illegal items were seized. Villa is faced with charges of Driving while suspended – a simple misdemeanor, possession of prescription pills – a serious misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana – a serious misdemeanor.
This is incident is under further investigation and more charges are possible, police say.
