ESTHERVILLE, IOWA – A Northern Iowa deputy nabbed a speeding drunk driver who was allegedly toting the illegal drug marijunana.
An Estherville man was arrested on drug charges as the result of a traffic stop south of Wallingford recently. According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens, on April 16 at 9:56 PM, a sheriff’s deputy observed a southbound vehicle traveling through Wallingford at 60 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. As a result, the sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 2200 block of highway 4. Upon investigation at the scene, it was determined that the driver was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.
As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Joshua Gardner of Estherville was placed under arrest and transported to the Emmet County Jail where he was booked and charged with possession of a controlled substance marijuana (2nd offense), operating while intoxicated 1st offense and speeding.
