MINNEAPOLIS – Iowa secured a huge Big Ten Conference road game victory by scoring the final 11 points of the game in beating Minnesota Sunday, 58-55.

Iowa closed the game on a 11-0 run to win for the first time since 2015 at Williams Arena.

National Player of the Year candidate Luka Garza scored a game-best 24 points, extending his 20-point streak to 11 straight Big Ten contests. The streak of 11 consecutive games is the most by a Hawkeye in 49 years and most by a Big Ten player in over 20 seasons.

Iowa registered its sixth victory away from home this season despite scoring a season-low 58 points.
Seven of the last eight meetings between the Hawkeyes and Gophers at Williams Arena have been decided by six points or less.

For the second time this year, Luka Garza scored Iowa’s first 10 points of the game (at Northwestern on Jan. 14). Garza’s seventh point of today’s contest was point No. 600 this season, becoming just the 12th Hawkeye to eclipse 600 points in a single-season.

Starting guard CJ Fredrick did not play in today’s game due to injury (ankle). Ryan Kriener started his fourth game of the season (Iowa is 3-1 in those games).

Iowa improved to 13-0 this season when holding opponents to 69 points or less.

Three of Iowa’s next four games will be played in Iowa City beginning Thursday against Ohio State in the only regular season meeting between the two teams. Tipoff is set for 6:01 p.m. (CT) on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
