DES MOINES — Friday afternoon was the deadline for Republican attorneys general seeking to overturn the health care law to respond to the Supreme Court as to whether the court should take up the case in its current term.

In response to this effort, which was instigated and spurred on by Senators Ernst and Grassley, and on behalf of the 1.3 million Iowans living with a preexisting condition, Iowa Voices would like to thank Attorney General Tom Miller for fighting for Iowans’ health care. By joining the effort with 20 other states’ attorneys general asking for a quick resolution on the lawsuit, AG Miller has strongly demonstrated his office’s commitment to protecting our care.

If this lawsuit succeeds, it will bring chaos to our health care system and devastate Iowa families. 187,000 Iowans could lose coverage — a 126 percent increase from 2019’s uninsured rate. The longer the courts delay making a final decision on the ACA, the longer Iowans will be left in limbo, with their coverage on the verge of being stripped away and the future of their care uncertain.

Ernst

As U.S. senators, Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst have a powerful voice and Iowans are looking to them for leadership. Iowa Voices is asking Iowans to call on Senators Ernst and Grassley to support Attorney General Miller’s effort to ensure the 1.3 million Iowans with preexisting conditions have access to quality, affordable health care.

Iowa Voices bills itself as “an issue advocacy, education-focused organization that communicates with Iowans on key issues as they apply to Senator Joni Ernst and her voting record. Our aim is to persuade Senator Ernst to take progressive action on critical issues that impact her constituents while holding her accountable when she fails to do so.”

“Iowa Voices bills itself as “an issue advocacy, education-focused organization that communicates with Iowans on key issues as they apply to Senator Joni Ernst and her voting record. “”

So,reading this tells me that this is an organization setup by Democrats to try to stir up trouble specifically for Senator Ernst. Here they are trying to bill themselves out as an advocacy organization, when in reality they are just a tool of the Democratic party.

Now if they were trying to be just an issue advocacy, education-focused organization that communicates with Iowans on key issues that would be a great thing.

You left out this part “Our aim is to persuade Senator Ernst to take progressive action on critical issues that impact her constituents while holding her accountable when she fails to do so.”
What is wrong with that? We pay her so her actions should be for the benefit of her constituents. If someone doesn’t hold her accountable for what she is doing, who will? And we need to have someone holding her accountable because her party is only concerned with the party.

The whole point of my first comment is, so they are worried JUST about Senator Ernst, nobody else?

That’s the way it reads. It makes it sound as if it is exactly what I said, that this is an organization setup by Democrats to try to stir up trouble specifically for Senator Ernst. Here they are trying to bill themselves out as an advocacy organization, when in reality they are just a tool of the Democratic party.

The key sentence is the last one, “when she fails to do so”. It should read, “when Iowa Voices perceives she fails to do so”. Believe it or not, just because Iowa Voices does not like it, doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

I believe it. Question is will you believe it when (if) she is wrong?

I can’t judge whether she is right or wrong since without a law, rule, or written guideline, what she does is pretty much in the eye of the beholder. One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.

There is nothing affordable about Obamacare. Period.

Heck, forget about Obamacare….what about Medicare? That costs people on fixed incomes a lot more in the long run.

And I would like to meet that Congressman who drafted and passed the legislation for Part D prescription drug coverage. It costs Seniors more than those who have traditional coverage from their employers.

And what about the Iowa rule that prohibits people who are on disability, covered by Medicare, and under the age of 65, from purchasing supplemental insurance! When are they going to fix that?
