LINCOLN, NE – A short-handed Iowa squad feb just short in a Big Ten road game against Nebraska Tuesday night, losing 76-60.
Iowa shot a miserable 4-33 from three-point range, essentially costing them the game.
Luka Garza posted his team-leading ninth double-double of the season and 14th of his career, totaling 16 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. The 17 rebounds tie Aaron White for the second most by a Hawkeye in the Fran McCaffery era. Garza became the 27th player in program history to join the 1,000-point, 500-rebound club with his third rebound of the first half of tonight’s game.
Sophomore Joe Wieskamp netted 15 of his game-high 21 points in the second half.
Freshman Joe Toussaint, this week’s Big Ten Freshman of the Week, scored in double figures for the second straight game (14 points).
Tonight concluded a stretch of eight of 10 games away from home, dating back to Nov. 28, 2019.
