ORLANDO, FLORIDA – Iowa State got a brief good start to the Camping World Bowl before muffing a punt return and opening the door to a beat down by Notre Dame, losing the game 33-9.

A three-and-out forced by the Cyclones upon the Fighting Irish was a short-lived bright spot, as the ensuing Irish punt was dropped by Tarique Milton. Notre Dame, ranked #15 in the nation, cashed in with a touchdown and never looked back, roughing up the ‘Clones all day while piling on the points and offensive frustrations.

Iowa State trailed 20-6 at the half. The second half began with another three-and-out for Iowa State, and then Irish runner Tony Jones Jr. sprinted 84 yards, a Camping World Bowl record, for a touchdown, making the score 27-6. Iowa State could only muster a field goal the rest of the day.

The Cyclones finished 7-6 on the season, losing several games by only a few points. Notre Dame finishes 11-2. Iowa State is 4-11 all-time in bowl games.
