Joseph Edward Brennan, Jr., the son of Joseph Brennan Sr. and Teresa (Witherspoon) Weber, was born November 17, 1983 in Iowa City, Iowa. He grew up in Charles City receiving his education through the Charles City School System. Joey met Kelsi Patten and they started a family. Joey married Kelsi and together they operated JEP Construction, Up2Date Fashions and Patten Properties. Joey and Kelsi would later get divorced, but spent almost 16 years together (married for nine) and had seven wonderful children.

While still working at the other businesses, Joey most recently worked as a bartender at Hot Shots Billiards in Charles City. He played on a local Pool League and was very good at shooting pool.

Joey was also a past member of the Charles City School Board. He enjoyed riding his crotch rocket motorcycle, playing Pokémon Go, was a big football fan (especially the New England Patriots) and loved making other people laugh through his sarcastic sense of humor. The most important thing in life to Joey was his family. He would do anything for his children, even go on random road trips to spend some extra time together.

Living family members include his children: Kolten , Kaylin , Jenessa , Jayla , Klayton, Jasper and Klaudia all of Charles City; the mother of his children, Kelsi Patten of Charles City; mother, Teresa (Randy) Weber of Mason City; father, Joseph “Joe”, Sr. (June) Brennan of Osage; siblings: Rich (Robyn) Onken of Pine River, Minnesota, Carrie Brennan (Duane Swender) of Waterloo, Tiffany (Ricky) Hughes of Osage, Jon (Teresa) Weber of Fort Dodge and Cassy (Shawn) George of Fort Dodge; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Joey was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; paternal grandparents; uncle, Bill Brennan and niece, Shaylee Rae Block-Brennan.
