College Basketball: Iowa outlasts Cincinnati on neutral court, 77-70

CHICAGO – Iowa continued its unlikely successful season with a neutral court victory over Cincinnati in Chicago, beating the Bearcats 77-70 Saturday night.

Redshirt freshman and Cincinnati native CJ Fredrick led Iowa in scoring for the fourth game this season, netting 21 points to equal a personal best (Cal Poly).
Junior Luka Garza rejected a career-high five shots to go along with his team-leading seventh double-double of the season. Garza grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds and he scored 12 points.

Senior Bakari Evelyn scored a season-high 15 points, bolstered by sinking a season-best three 3-pointers. Evelyn entered the game with three triples made the first 11 games of the season. Evelyn also snagged a season-best seven boards.

Iowa has won four of its last six contests and now three in a row.

Tonight’s game was played at the United Center in Chicago as part of Chicago Legends.

Iowa returns to home court on Sunday, Dec. 29, when the Hawkeyes host Kennesaw State in its nonconference finale. Tipoff is set for 3:05 p.m. (CT) on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
