IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa women’s basketball team hosted Winona State in an exhibition contest Sunday, winning the game 98-53.
Former Mason City Mohawk standout Makenzie Meyer tallied 8 assists, 5 points, 4 rebounds and 2 turnovers.
Megan Meyer also saw limited action and snared 2 rebounds and 1 assists in just over 9 minutes.
Three Hawkeyes scored in double figures. They include Monika Czinano (27 points), Kathleen Doyle (20 points), and Gabbie Marshall (10 points). Czinano netted 27 points on 13-13 shooting from the field.
The Hawkeyes shot 61 percent from the field (39-64).
The Hawkeyes shot 87 percent from the free-throw line (13-15).
The Hawkeyes will officially open the 2019-20 season, facing Florida Atlantic on Thursday (Nov. 7) at 6:30 p.m. in Carver Hawkeye Arena.
