MASON CITY — The Cerro Gordo Public Health Department this week presented the annual Workplace Wellness Diamond Award to POET Biorefining of Hanlontown.
The Workplace Wellness Awards Program is a partnership between CG Public Health, the Mason City Chamber of Commerce, and their Chamber Worksite Wellness Committee to recognize and support local employers in their quest to support employee health and well-being.
In its fourth year, the program continues to receive many quality applications from local organizations all committed to employee wellness. POET Biorefining is being recognized for their outstanding efforts surrounding workplace wellness at the Mason City Chamber’s annual meeting on Thursday, October 3rd.
“I’m thrilled that POET Biorefining is being recognized for their long-time commitment to employee health and well-being. They have been a local leader in policy, systems, and environmental strategies that support employee wellness and community health,” states Kelli Gerdes, Health Promotion Manager at CG Public Health. “From being one of the first employers to adopt a tobacco free grounds policy years ago, their health promotion activities inspire many businesses throughout North Iowa. The Worksite Wellness Awards Program continues to shine a light on the great behind the scenes wellness efforts employers in our area provide to their employees and their communities.”
In addition to the Diamond Award, MercyOne Family Medicine – Forest Park also is recognized for their strong employee-wellness initiatives, earning Bronze Level award status.
The awards program was established by a University of Iowa Business Leadership Network project in 2016 and is sustained by CG Public Health and the Mason City Chamber of Commerce.
