Fire reported at Fort Dodge Correctional Facility

FORT DODGE- At approximately 2 p.m. today, the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility placed a call to the local fire department to assist in responding to a fire that had developed inside the correctional facility. It is believed that the fire started on the roof of one of the prison housing units where contractors were conducting repairs. Local fire officials believe the fire is now under control.

Emergency responders are on-scene, and all prison staff, contractors, and inmates are accounted for.

This information is preliminary, and subject to change.

The department will issue more information as it becomes available.
