Garner’s Kwik Star convenience store evacuated today after bomb threat

GARNER – A bomb threat in Garner today led to the evacuation of a a convenience store.

Chief Tim Dodge of the Garner Police Department says that on Thursday, May 16th at approximately 8:05 AM, the Garner Police Department responded to a 911 call from Kwik Star, located at 150 E Highway 18. Garner Officers conducted an interview which led to information regarding a vehicle which may contain an explosive device. The vehicle was identified and located. Due to the location of the vehicle an evacuation of the Kwik Star property was conducted.

With the assistance of the State Fire Marshal the vehicle was determined to not be a threat.

Law Enforcement has been able to determine any threats of an explosive device were directed towards specific individuals and not the general public. The investigation remains on going and no charges have been filed at this time.
