Man arrested in Spirit Lake after assaulting police

SPIRIT LAKE, IOWA – A man left a bar Saturday night in Spirit Lake and assaulted police after being confronted about disorderly conduct.

On April 13, 2019 at approximately 7:16 PM, Spirit Lake Police were called to Dynos for a male acting disorderly and who might be intoxicated. The male left Dynos westbound on 18th Street before being located by police. While speaking with the male, he continued to act disorderly and uncooperative before assaulting one of the officers. Subsequently, the male was placed under arrest. Prior to being brought to the jail, the male was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

As a result of the arrest, 54-year-old Parish James Reed was booked into the Dickinson County Jail on the following charges:

-Assault on a Peace Officer Causing Bodily Injury: Aggravated Misdemeanor
-Two Counts of Interference with Official Acts Resulting in Bodily Injury: Serious Misdemeanor
-Possession of a Controlled Substance to wit Marijuana Second Offense: Serious Misdemeanor
-Public Intoxication Second Offense: Serious Misdemeanor
-Disorderly Conduct: Simple Misdemeanor
