WEST DES MOINES – Police say a woman was shot dead in West Des Moines over the weekend.
One person died after shots were fired in West Des Moines, officials say. The call came in around 11:42 PM April 5, 2019. First responders were sent to the area of S. 64th Street and Coachlight Drive when someone driving through the area found an adult female lying in the road. While responding to the scene, officials received another call reporting shots had been fired in the area.
The patient was transported by ambulance to a hospital where she later died. Police have identified the victim as Sakira Kezia Tamara Bonner, an 18 year old woman from Des Moines.
The death is being investigated as a homicide. The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation is assisting West Des Moines Police.
