Floyd County Medical Center fund to reach new milestone

CHARLES CITY – Floyd County Medical Center is a critical access hospital and rural health clinic providing healthcare services to the residents of the region. On January 17, 1965 the hospital opened on its current campus after a vote by Floyd County residents to transition and expand operations. Floyd County Medical Center does not receive direct tax support from Floyd County residents, while the majority of Iowa’s critical access hospitals do receive tax revenue.

In 2017, The Floyd County Medical Center established an endowment fund with the Floyd County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa. The endowment fund will provide resources to the hospital so it can continue providing critical care to its community.

“It’s going to be a forever stream of support to the Floyd County Medical Center and their mission,” said Diane Nuezil, Development Associate with the Floyd County Community Foundation. “As the fund is invested and donors contribute, the fund is going to grow and dollars will be available for medical and the people they serve. It’s a permanent investment.”

Now, the Floyd County Medical Center is on the verge of reaching a major milestone. The endowment fund has reached nearly $90,000 in donations. As part of their matching program, the Community Foundation will be contributing $10,000 to the endowment fund once the milestone is reached.

“We are excited about the growth of our fund so far and are excited about reaching this next step. We could not do it without the support of our community and dedicated employees. This fund will allow us to maintain a level of excellent healthcare well into the future,” said Rod Nordeng, Administrator at Floyd County Medical Center.

The Floyd County Medical Center Foundation Fund in an endowed fund, ensuring local healthcare is available for our grandchildren and their grandchildren into the future – a wonderful legacy for all donors. To help the fund reach $90,000 and receive a $10,000 contribution from the Community Foundation, consider making a donation.

As a permanent endowment fund with the Floyd County Community Foundation, donors to the fund can take advantage of a 25% state tax credit made available through the Endow Iowa program, in addition to normal federal deductions for charitable gifts. Gifts to the fund allow recommendations for grants to be made each year to support charitable causes that carry out the mission of the Community Foundation.

Donation checks may be made to the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, with a memo to the Floyd County Medical Center Foundation Fund. Checks may be mailed to foundation offices at 3117 Greenhill Circle, Cedar Falls, 50613. Contributions also may be made online at CFNEIA.org/floydmedicalcenterfoundation.
