NORTHWOOD – A man is behind bars after an alleged burglary attempt in Fertile.
On November 23, 2018 at about 1:20 AM the Worth County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a robbery on the 100 Block of W Main Street in Fertile, Iowa. A Worth County Deputy arrived on scene to find the glass broken out of the front door. The owners of the property were present at the time of the break in. The owners scared off the intruder who fled out the front door running east on W Main Street on foot. The owners observed a vehicle soon after leave the Fertile Park area. The Worth County Sheriff’s Office conducted a full investigation along with the assistance of multiple law enforcement agencies to include; Clear Lake Police Department, Department of Public Safety, and Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
With the conclusion of a multi-jurisdictional effort, charges have been filed against Jonathan Henry Martin of Waterloo, Iowa. Martin is charged with Burglary 1stDegree (b felony), Two counts of Theft 1st Degree (c felony), Theft 2nd Degree (d felony), Dominion/Control of Firearm/Offensive Weapon by Felon (d felony), and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree (aggravated misdemeanor).
Martin is currently in custody and awaiting transport to Worth County on the above charges.

How many times do you have to write out a comment before it posts? What do we as iowans have a stand your ground as well as a castle doctrine that we pushed and voted for if we are idk…. Never gonna use it? It’s well within your rights to shoot some junkie for breaking into your home so please stop doing nothing and start shooting these freaks! We can’t go a week without at least one break in or violent assault or combo. If some criminals started going room temp don’t you think we could feel safer in the knowledge that they are maybe scared to break in because it’s very possible they could die for it? why are we letting the meth heads decide how society works in north iowa!
I would NEVER take the side of a home invader/burglar, but it may be harder to draw down and shoot somebody than you think. I have never shot anybody, and neither have you.
Well that’s an assumption. I could have been in the military. It a cop. Or a detroiter. Truth be told I’ve had to defend myself in the past. If I can use a blade against a human being I don’t think shooting them would be that hard. I’M not a pussy, if my life is at risk I’m comfortable killing. not all lives matter and I put about zero value on the lives of those I don’t love. Zero.
