MASON CITY – A Mason City unsuccessfully ran from police as a search warrant was executed at a house in connection to a burglary in Manly.
On January 24, 2019 the Worth County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a Burglary in rural Worth County near Manly. At a later date a witness came forward with information on the burglary. The witness said 18-year-old Tirrell Hopkins of Mason City was involved in the burglary.
On February 4, 2019 the Worth County Sheriff’s Office along with the Mason City Police Department executed a search warrant in the 600 block of 13th Street NE in Mason City, at the residence of Hopkins. When officers arrived and made entry to the residence, Hopkins took off on foot. Officers gave chase and the suspect was soon taken into custody in the 700 block of 11th Street NE.
Hopkins is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and Interference with Official Acts. Records show he has been released from jail.
Hopkins is on probation after a drug charge brought by Mason City police this past summer. He was given a deferred judgement as a more serious felony charge of possession of contraband in a jail was dismissed. He is now facing a probation violation.

I am sorry, that statement is patently false. One look at the Jail Inmate report for today, will show you that of the 61 people incarcerated, there were 5 people held for Burglary, and 9 people held for Theft. All of them were Caucasians.
There were only 5 people who were non-whites inmates in the jail. And only one of them held for a violent crime.

This kid is a loser whether he is white, black, mixed, asian,Russian, or from Mars. The Mason City Council thinks a hockey arena is going to revitalize down town? I thought that is what Music Man Square was supposed to do? That money pit has done nothing for the city.. That criminal Carl Miller pushed that thing through for his own gain and then left town. There is a plethora of issues in MC that need to be addressed correctly to clean up this town and make it attractive to people, and number 1 is to get rid of the scum no matter what color, shape, or size they come in. When it comes to the drug problem, if there was no demand for it the scum that comes to our town wouldn’t come here. Pretty sad.
