Northern Iowa man accused of felony child abuse

ESTHERVILLE, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man was arrested for child abuse after the mother of a two-year-old girl discovered injuries on the toddler.

On January 9, 2019 Officers from the Estherville Police Department were called to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville regarding an allegation of Child Abuse. During the investigation, it was determined that a 2-year girl had numerous injuries on her body. The injuries had been discovered by the mother of the child when she was picked up after an overnight stay at a relative’s residence. The injuries observed, were not consistent with the explanation the mother was given when she picked the child up. The girl was treated by hospital staff and released to her mother. Estherville Police contacted the Iowa Department of Human Services as part of their investigation. At the completion of the investigation on January 29, 2019, Estherville Police requested arrest warrants for 19-year-old Felipe Padron Triana of Estherville.

On February 1, 2019, Estherville Police arrested 19-year-old Felipe Padron Triana as a result of the arrest warrants that had been issued. Padron Triana was transported to the Emmet County Jail. Padron Triana was charged with 2 counts of Child Endangerment both Class “D” Felonies. Padron Triana appeared in front of a Magistrate and was released on a $7,500 unsecured bond.

The Estherville Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Iowa Department of Human Services.
