MASON CITY – The Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health is now offering Nutrition Coaching paired with an InBody Analyzer scan to the public.
Nutrition coaching allows you to maximize your health potential. It allows you to meet one-on-one with a nutrition expert to discuss your nutrition struggles, figure out what your nutritional goals need to be, and work together to achieve those goals. Katelyn Nicholson, Public Health Dietitian at the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health, uses a wide range of tools to assess and identify nutritional imbalances and health struggles. She provides education on your current nutrition situation and how changing dietary habits could improve your overall health. Sessions are typically 60 minutes long and are held at the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health (Mohawk Square Building).
Nutrition coaching sessions are offered to any individual residing in Cerro Gordo County. Topics covered in coaching sessions are based upon the person’s goals and current struggles. Some topics include: food sensitivities, allergies, gastrointestinal issues, metabolism, hormonal balance, weight loss, performance, health and vitality, and many others. Some individuals only need to meet with Nicholson for one session, while others opt for regularly scheduled coaching sessions to ensure accountability and continued guidance and education.
The InBody Analyzer is a machine that looks like a scale. It provides a glimpse of your overall health status by measuring body fat percentage and total fat mass. It also measures lean mass and how it is distributed in your body. Fat mass is the weight of your total body fat, while lean body mass is the total weight of your body minus all the weight due to your fat mass.
Lean Body Mass (LBM) = Total Weight – Fat Mass
LBM includes the weight of:
- Organs
- Skin
- Bones
- Body Water
- Muscle Mass
“The InBody Analyzer gives you a more in depth look at your overall body composition,” stated Nicholson. “The scan provides key data to get an overview of your health status and allows me to coach you on a more personalized level.”
The scan will also gauge your inflammatory status, weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), and resting metabolic rate. After the scan is completed, Nicholson will provide education and counseling around nutrition and lifestyle changes related to the individuals’ personal results.

- $40 – Nutrition Coaching + InBody scan with analysis (60 min)
- $20 – InBody Scan with analysis (30 min)
- $10 – InBody Rescan with analysis (15 min)
