OBIT: Ronald R. Carpenter

Ronald R. Carpenter, 84, of Frisco, TX, and formerly of Clear Lake, died Sunday (December 9, 2018) at First Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, TX.

Graveside services will be held at future date in the spring at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hwy. 122 W., Mason City.

In lieu of customary remembrances, Ronald’s family asks that memorials be directed to the Mason City Police Honor Guard in care of the Mason City Police Department.

The son of Richard and Emma (Groh) Carpenter, Ronald Richard Carpenter was born in Mason City on November 14, 1934. He attended and graduated from Mason City High School among the class of 1952.

On February 3, 1957 Ronald was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Hagen in Albert Lea, Minn. They would be blessed with two sons, Randy and Tracy. Sharon would precede him in death in 1996.

Ronald was united in marriage to Jo Ellen Wilson (Hanson) on November 23, 1996. Together they would share 22 years of marriage.

Throughout the years Ronald worked several jobs, most notably serving as a Police Officer with the Mason City Police Department. Ronald served as a patrolman for 23 years before his retirement in 1988. Always one to keep busy, Ronald soon found himself driving a school bus route for Huffman Transportation and North Iowa Bus Company, a position that he held until 2005.

Those grateful in sharing in his life are his wife, Jo Ellen Carpenter, Frisco, TX; his son, Randy (Candy) Carpenter, Amarillo, TX; step children, Steve (Penny) Wilson, Livingston, TX, and Linda (Wayne) Overstreet, Carrollton, TX; daughter in law, Patty Carpenter; grandchildren, Lauren Carpenter, Chad Carpenter, Eric Peshak, Stephine Moore, and Daniel Overstreet; great grandchildren, Olivia, Elori, Max, Jacoby, Skylar, and Sawyer; and his siblings, Roger (Janet) Carpenter, Richard (Bonnie) Carpenter, and Arlene (Bob) Kramer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Emma; wife, Sharon Carpenter; and son, Tracy Carpenter.
