CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man has been arrested on a Florida warrant for lewd transmissions to a minor.
On December 21, 2018 and 10:40 AM, officers with the Charles City police department arrested 23-year-old David Payne of Charles City in the 500 block of 6th Avenue. Payne is wanted in Hillsborough county, Florida on an arrest warrant connected to a charge of transmission of harmful material to a minor, a third-degree felony.
Court records say Payne committed the crime on May 27, 2018. Florida law states that any person who knew or believed that he or she was transmitting an image, information, or data that is harmful to minors to a specific individual known by the defendant to be a minor commits a felony of the third degree.
Payne remains in the Floyd county jail and has been assigned a public defender.
