Howard Martin Newstrom, age 82, of Osage, died Monday, December 24, 2018 at his home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Byrd officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services Thursday. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Howard was born July 3, 1936, in Denora, Pennsylvania, the son of Gustaf and Sarah Bell (Ingram) Newstrom. He attended school in Denora. Howard was united in marriage to Glenda Holt on December 25, 1959, at the Community Church in Fontana, California. He was employed at Kaiser Steel Corporation in Fontana, and retired from there 35 years ago. In his retirement, he volunteered at an upholstery shop and R.V. shop in California, before moving to Osage, where he volunteered at Basic Builders. He loved cars, old and new, and working on them. He was also known by his friends as Howie or Howito. Howard enjoyed going to casinos and most of all going to Kountry Kupboard for coffee with his friends.
Howard is survived by his wife, Glenda Newstrom of Osage; daughters, Shannon (Jeff) Schultz of Amarillo, Texas; Erin (Michael) Niemeyer of Osage; grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) Schultz; Brianna, Megan, and Riley Niemeyer; and one brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and four sisters.
