MASON CITY – The NIACC men’s basketball team moved up to No. 14 in the NJCAA Division II poll released Tuesday.
NIACC (9-2 overall, 1-0 ICCAC) was No. 19 in the Dec. 11 poll.
South Suburban (Ill.) is ranked No. 1 and Highland (Kan.) is ranked No. 2. Kirkwood is ranked No. 7 and DMACC and Iowa Lakes are tied at No. 19.
NIACC opened ICCAC play Dec. 8 with a 104-81 win at then No. 2 Southwestern for its eighth straight victory.
NIACC also owns a win over No. 17 DCTC (101-65) on Nov. 28 in Rosemount, Minn.
The No. 14 ranking is the highest a NIACC men’s team has been ranked since the Trojans were No. 3 in the Dec. 3, 2012 poll.
NIACC, which has scored at least 100 points in five straight games, returns to action on Jan. 9 at home against Iowa Central in an ICCAC contest.
