IOWA CITY – The 16th-ranked Iowa women’s basketball team defeated Northern Iowa 83-57 Sunday in Iowa City with the aid of 3 points from a former Mason City Mohawk.
Four Hawkeyes scored in double figures. They include: Megan Gustafson (28), Kathleen Doyle (13), Tania Davis (10) and Hannah Stewart (10). Former Mason City Mohawk Mackenzie Meyer managed to score 3 points on 1-of-3 shooting from 3-point range. She also had 3 assists and no turnovers.
Iowa extended its win streak over UNI to 12 games and led 35-24 at halftime.
Senior Megan Gustafson registered her ninth double-double of the season with 28 points and 12 rebounds.
Junior Kathleen Doyle made her first start of the season. She scored 13 points and dished out seven assists.
Iowa committed a season-low eight turnovers.
Iowa (8-2, 0-0) next faces Drake on December 21 in Des Moines.
