NIACC men win seventh straight, 108-70

MASON CITY – For the fourth straight game, the NIACC men’s basketball team has reached century mark.

NIACC (8-2 overall) put four players in double figures and cruised to a 108-70 nonconference victory over the Luther College Junior Varsity Tuesday night in the NIACC gym. James Harris scored 17 points with eight steals, six assists and five rebounds to lead the Trojans to their seventh straight win.

In its last four games where NIACC has scored at least 100 points, the Trojans have outscored their opponents, 420-283.

It is the first time since the 1971-72 season that a NIACC men’s team has scored at least 100 points in four straight games. The Trojans scored 100 points in five straight games in 1971-72.

The last time a NIACC men’s team won seven straight games was the 2012-13 season when the Trojans’ rattled off eight straight wins at one point.

In Tuesday’s win over the Norse, the Trojans also received 13 points from Quentin Hardrict, 12 points from Trey Sampson and 11 points from Chandler Dean.

Dean led the Trojans with nine rebounds and three blocked shot. Kyle Lang scored nine points with five assists, four rebounds and one steal.

NIACC opens ICCAC play Saturday at No. 2 Southwestern. Game time in Creston is slated for 3 p.m.
