Paula L. Mateo, 38, of Mason City passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 after a sudden illness.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2018 at the funeral chapel.
Paula gave in death as she did in life in Organ Donation through the Iowa Donor Network.
In Lieu of customary remembrances, memorials may be made in care of Paula’s family.
Paula Lynn Bloes was born on March 19, 1980 in Waterloo, the daughter of Joseph and Cynthia “Cyndie” (Sauer) Bloes. She grew up in Waterloo attending high school at West High. She later obtained her GED at Hawkeye Tech and continued her education to become an Aide and translator. On June 28, 2003 Paula married the love of her life, Claudio Mateo. In this union, they shared four children, Dakota Mateo, Luis Torres, Claudio Jr. and Isaac Mateo. The family lived in Mason City where Paula’s career took her many places. Working as a translator at Community Action for 13 years, Spring Harbor, and the Transition Center. She took pride in helping others.
Paula enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends. She was constantly finding new music to enjoy and share with those around her. Paula was a people person and could make friends with just about anyone. Her biggest joy in life was her family, being blessed with a granddaughter, Serenity, just two years ago.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Claudio of Mason City; children, Dakota Mateo, Luis Torres, Claudio Jr. Mateo and Isaac Mateo; granddaughter, Serenity; parents, Joseph and Cynthia Bloes; sister, Sarah Boeschen; sisters-in-law, Lidia, Veronica, Araceli, Rosario, and Adriana Mateo; brothers-in-law, Adan, Marco Antonio, and Gustavo Mateo; mother-in-law, Flora Manzo; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Preceding her in death are her maternal and paternal grandparents and father-in-law, Baltazar Mateo.
