Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2018, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Doris was born March 20, 1928, in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Fannie (Havens) Wieland. She attended Burr Oak rural school, where she graduated from the eighth grade. Doris was united in marriage to Donald L. “Jack” Sonberg on July 14, 1949, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She spent her life raising her family and farming with Jack on their farm south of New Haven.
Doris is survived by her six children, Dee (Bob) Onken of Osage, Darwin (Norma) Sonberg of Orchard, Denise (Dan) Riden of Nashua, Dawn (Courtney) Thomas of Ionia, Dale Sonberg of Charles City, and Dennis (Lisa) Sonberg of Charles City; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded death by her husband, Donald “Jack” Sonberg; her parents; her son, Daron Sonberg; three brothers, Albert, Fred, Jr., and Howard Wieland; two sisters, Mary Helen Rosensweig and Lola M. Kramer.
