Iowa State’s Hakeem Butler added to Biletnikoff Award Watch List

AMES – Iowa State junior wide receiver Hakeem Butler has been added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, announced today by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.

Select voters of the award, given annually to the nation’s best receiver regardless of position, will trim down the list to 10 semifinalists on Nov. 12.

A native of Baltimore, Md., Butler has been a human highlight reel, leading the nation in yards per reception at 24.0.

His big-play ability has been on full display this season, recording nine of ISU’s 11 longest plays with eight receptions of 40 yards or longer.

Butler, who leads the team in receptions (33), receiving yards (791) and TD catches (8), has recorded four 100-yard receiving games on the year, including three-straight. He ranks 10th nationally in receiving yards per game at 98.9.

Five of Butler’s eight TD catches have gone for 48 yards or more and his eight TD snares ties for fifth on ISU’s season list. He currently has a streak of four-straight games with a TD catch, tying for the third-longest string in school history.

Against Oklahoma, Butler recorded a career-high 174 receiving yards and two TDs. In the Kansas win, he tied for the fifth-longest catch in school history with an 83-yard TD grab. He ended the KU game with 164 yards and two TDs.

Butler will go down as one of the greatest receivers in school history. He currently ranks in Iowa State’s career top-10 in yards per reception (1st- 19.5), receiving yards (8th, 1,622), TD catches (3rd- 17) and 100-yard receiving games (5th- 6).
