RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A man was hurt and a Ventura fire truck was damaged in a rollover accident Saturday night.
On November 3rd, 2018 at 9:34 PM, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office responded to Balsam Avenue and 170th Street for a vehicle rollover. Doug Phinney, 65, of Ventura, was operating a 2000 Freightliner Pumper fire truck belonging to the Ventura Protective Association after leaving the scene of a fire. The fire truck was turning north on to Balsam Avenue from 170th Street when the turn was taken too short and the vehicle rolled onto its top in the ditch. Phinney was taken to the hospital by Clear Lake Ambulance to be checked out for minor injuries. Damage was caused to the firetruck.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ventura and Clear Lake Fire Departments.
