UPDATE: Two brothers dead after shooting in Fort Dodge

FORT DODGE – Two men are dead after a shooting in Fort Dodge.

Fort Dodge police say that on Monday, October 22, 2018 at approximately 12:03 A.M., the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call indicating shots had been fired in the area of North 9th Street and 3rd Avenue North. Officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department also heard what they believed to be shots fired around the time of the initial call to dispatch.

Officers responded to the area and located two unresponsive males laying in the alleyway behind 910 2nd Avenue North. Medical personnel with the Fort Dodge Fire Department responded to the scene and determined that both individuals were deceased. It was evident at that time that both victims had sustained gunshot wounds. The identities of the males will be withheld at this point pending the notification of family members.

Due to the nature of the incident, a Crime Scene Team from the Iowa Division of Investigation’s Criminalistics Laboratory was contacted and responded to the scene. Investigators with the Fort Dodge Police Department, along with investigators from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are actively working this incident. Anyone who may have information, or was in the area around this time, is strongly encouraged to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department.

Information available at this time leads police to believe, they say, that this is an isolated incident between known individuals and there is no immediate threat to the public. The victims will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies.

The Fort Dodge Police Department was assisted on scene by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Fort Dodge Fire Department, and the Webster County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Later Monday, Fort Dodge police said the victims, who are brothers, are Marion T. Rhodes, 37 years old of Fort Dodge – Eldominic T. Rhodes, 34 years old of Fort Dodge.
