Armed, hooded man robs Fort Dodge Applebee’s restaurant

FORT DODGE – Police in Fort Dodge and investigators from the state of Iowa are searching for an armed, hooded suspect after the local Applebee’s restaurant was robbed Sunday morning.

On September 30, 2018, at approximately 1:49 AM, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a 911 call from an employee at Applebees, 2810 5th Ave S, indicating that they had just been robbed. Fort Dodge Police responded to the scene where they learned that a male presented a weapon to an employee demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the male left the restaurant running south.
Fort Dodge Police did a thorough search for the suspect in the surrounding area but were unable to locate him. The suspect is described as a younger, tall black male, with a thin build, wearing a mask to cover his face, a blue colored hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

At this time investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division are continuing to follow up on this incident. Anyone with information is on this incident is encouraged to contact the Fort Dodge Police.
