
WORTH COUNTY – A Worth county man died in a grain bin accident, authorities say.
On September 24, 2018 at 1127 AM, the Worth County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of an 80-year-old male possibly trapped inside a grain bin. Emergency crews arrived and the subject was later located inside the bin unresponsive.
The subject that was killed in the accident was identified as Norman Allen Backhaus of rural Manly, Iowa.
Assisting the Worth County Sheriff’s Office at the scene was the Manly Police Department, Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Manly Fire & Rescue, Kensett Fire & Rescue, Northwood Fire & Rescue, Mason City Ambulance, Life flight 2 out of Fort Dodge, Viafield Coop, POET, and several area farmers.
