Forest City woman loses life after accident in rural Winnebago county

LELAND, IOWA – A Forest City woman died after an auto accident in Winnebago county early Tuesday morning.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 88-year-old Shirley Arlene Schutter died at the scene of an accident just before 2 AM Thursday, September 18, 2018. A report claims 27-year-old Ethan Edward Schutter of Lake Mills was driving a 2005 Ford F250 Superduty pickup truck southbound on Highway 69 near Fifth Avenue in Leland when he encountered Shirley Arlene Schutter’s 2004 Bucik Lesabre at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Highway 69. The LeSabre pulled out from the stop sign on Fifth Avenue, into the path of the Superduty, striking the LeSabre broadside on the driver’s side, sending it into a ditch and striking a street sign.

As a result of the collision, Shirley Schutter was pronounced deceased at the scene.
