Sophomore Fullerton leads NIACC women

MASON CITY – The NIACC women’s golf team shot a fall season low 359 and placed third at the NIACC Invitational Monday at the Mason City Country Club.

Iowa Lakes won the invitational with a 336 and DMACC was second with a 344.
“I was real happy with our 359 (Monday),” NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. “That’s probably our best round in two or three years.”

NIACC was led by sophomore Sydney Fullerton with a career-best 85. Fullerton’s previous career best was a 89 on the first day of the 2018 NJCAA Region XI tournament last spring.

“Sydney Fullerton did an outstanding job,” Frenz said. “She kind of struggled early on but really did a good job of putting it together about midway through the round.”

Also for the Lady Trojans, Jordyn Barragy shot a 90, Morgan Luecht shot a 91 and Ashley Alert shot a 93.

NIACC opened its fall season last week with a 386 at the Southwestern War at the Moor tournament at the Crestmoor Golf Club.
