MASON CITY – The HEALTH For Life Board, in partnership with the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health, has awarded funding for two wellness initiatives in Plymouth, Iowa.

The HEALTH for Life Board is a non-profit organization working to improve the health of our communities in Cerro Gordo County by receiving and awarding funds to projects and initiatives working to build healthier communities. HEALTH stands for Helping Everyone Achieve Long Term Health.

“We are proud to support these Plymouth wellness initiatives,” states Adam Wedmore, HEALTH for Life Board Chairman. “We believe that health is not only the responsibility of the individual, but of the community as well. We look forward to supporting more projects like these in the future.”

Project funding requests for application can be submitted by emailing Ron Osterholm at ron@cghealth.com.

Just think about all the calories you burn siting on that plump ass of yours reading this stupid blog.

At least these people are trying. But com’on what’s $300 gunna buy in the way of fitness equipment. Pony up a grand more like it.

Um…That much money could buy LOTS of jump ropes. And hula hoops. And Frisbees (see NIT story about funding for a Frisbee Golf thingy). And exercise mats. And a chin-up bar,, etc.
Last I heard is that sit-ups, jumping-jacks, push-ups, jogging/walking, riding a bicycle, , lifting heavy items found in your own home, etc., etc. are ALL effective fitness methods that do NOT require store-bought equipment to achieve fitness.
There are MANY reasons why our ancestors were FAR more fit than us…WITHOUT the use of profiteering EXPENSIVE gadgets.
I have seen MANY such gadgets for sale at garage sales for pennies on the dollar as OBVIOUSLY “out-of-shape” people say: “I paid $2,500 for this thing 3 months ago. .Just gimme $50.00 and get the damn thing outta here!”

I agree. Our ancestors where a lot more healthy than today. They just lack the advancements in the medical field we have today. Even in the last couple decades people seemed to have gotten way out of shape. They appear to be lazy. With all the wonderful sidewalks that line the city’s streets they all appear vacant most of the time. Most people probably get in about 200 steps a day in. Mostly in their home one imagines. It’s 90% exercise and 10% diet to lose weight. It’s seems they got it backwards. Imagine that. lol
