MASON CITY – A Mason City woman convicted of felony drunk driving back in 2012 was busted earlier this year driving drunk once again and has now been sent to prison.
A traffic complaint was called in to police on the evening of March 1, 2018. Officers responded at about 6:36 PM, located the alleged vehicle involved and made a traffic stop near 4th Street SW and Cerro Gordo Way. After an investigation, the driver, 47-year-old Deirdre Laine Witham of Mason City was arrested on a charge of felony third-offense operating while intoxicated.
In a negotiated plea, Witham was sentenced to 5 years in prison on September 5. Records show she will be in a an OWI prison program. She must also pay $5,408.75 in fines and court fees.
Witham was guilty of felony third-offense operating while intoxicated back in 2012 in Worth county, records show, and paid $7,274.12 in fines and court fees.

Damn they’re not kidding. And to just think years ago the fine was a flat $250 and you walked. No jail. And beside if you were local they usually followed you home. Unless you were falling down drunk then it was the drunk tank overnight. And the bar business was a booming like no other. It must be those millennials they f’ed it up. lmao
