OBIT: Ranae Hejna, 45, of Floyd

Ranae Hejna, 45, of Floyd, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital-Methodist Campus in Rochester, Minnesota.

A funeral Mass for Ranae Hejna will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Gary Mayer celebrating the Mass.

Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and will continue one hour before the funeral Mass at the church on Saturday.

Ranae Lea Hejna was born August 16th, 1972 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital to Robert (Bob) and Lynda (DeVries) Chambers. She attended Charles City High School and graduated in the spring of 1990. She met her husband Bob while working at the Dairy Queen in High School, they were then married September 25th of 1993 at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City.

Bob and Ranae welcomed their first child Bailee in February of 1996 while working in the medical laboratory at Floyd County Memorial Hospital after receiving her medical laboratory science degree from Hawkeye Community College. Their second child Caleb came in August on the 14th of 2000. Ranae continued her education online through the University of Cincinnati for medical technology after her youngest Ty, was welcomed into the world September 26th, 2007.

Ranae enjoyed many things in life. Spending time watching her kids show pigs at county and state fair was her favorite. She enjoyed going up to Wisconsin snowmobiling to a family friend’s cabin, she went many trips up north not only with her family, but friends. Ranae had her group of girlfriends she enjoyed going Christmas shopping with every year as well as having card club with them and their husbands, they also all went camping frequently. Ranae and her family went down to Texas and stayed with her Uncle and Aunt for six years straight to watch the NASCAR races, many memories were made. In Ranae’s free time she enjoyed reading and spending time holding her cat.

Fondly remembered by her husband of 24 years, Bob; Daughter Bailee and special friend Sean Fox; sons Caleb and Ty; Parents Bob and Lynda Chambers of Elma; Sisters Robin Pride of Elma, Roxanne Meek of Charles City; Brother Robert (Bud) Chambers of Greene; Mother-in-Law Connie Hejna of Floyd; Sister-in-Law Darcy Bast of Floyd; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ranae was greeted in Heaven by her Father-in-Law Edward Hejna; Brother-in-Laws Doug Pride and Dennis Bast; as well as grandparents and great grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or family. Donations can be dropped off at First Security Bank and Trust in Charles City.
