OBIT: Lester Trask, 84, of Charles City

Lester Trask, 84, of Charles City, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral service for Lester Trask will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City with Pastor Jim Beranek officiating. Burial will take place at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Lester Leonard Trask, the son of Leonard and Ruth (Boggess) Trask, was born on March 13, 1934 in Deerfield, Iowa. Lester attended country school and Charles City High School, graduating in 1954. After graduation, Lester served in the United States Marines from 1954 to 1957. Lester married Madonna McCoy on August 23, 1958 in Austin, Minnesota.

Lester worked for Lampert Yards in Charles City. He owned and operated Rockford Lumber Co. in Rockford, Iowa from 1972 to 1992.

Lester was a member of the Charles City JC’s, Rockford Lions Club, Rockford Golf and Country Club (as president and board member), Trinity United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge of 50 years, and the American Legion. Lester enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, playing cards, and spending winters in Arizona.

Lester is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Madonna Trask; sons: Raymond (Marilyn) Trask of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Lloyd (Jan) Trask of Rockford, Iowa, and Lynn (Teri) Trask of Cedar Falls, Iowa; grandchildren: Nicholas (Kathryn) Trask, Amber (Doug) Barr, Trent (Kristine) Trask, Chelsie Trask, Shay Trask, Cadi Trask, Josh Rokusek, and Lyuda (Tyler) Rogers; 6 step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren: Austin Barr, Tanner Barr, Trennedy Barr, Trystan Barr, Machaela Trask, Kylie Trask, Karra Trask, and Jaylon Trask; 7 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Doris (Duane) Lynch of Charles City; brothers: Vernon (Connie) Trask of Waverly and Stanley (Mary Ann) Trask of New Hampton; brother-in-law, Bill Winkelman; along with many nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Ruth Trask; sister, Lois Winkelman; mother and father-in-law, Francis and Edna McCoy; and brother-in-law, Larry Mehmen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Floyd County Friends of Cancer or Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
