HARDIN COUNTY – A Northern Iowa man was hurt in an auto crash Thursday in rural Hardin county.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place Thursday, July 27 at 1:53 AM 1 mile north of Hubbard on Highway 65. A 2006 Chevy pickup driven by 48-year-old Robert Dietze of Dows was southbound on Highway 65 when it crossed the center line. The pickup then struck a northbound Feightliner semi driven by 39-year-old Michael Hulme of Grundy Center; the collision was nearly head-on, the Iowa State Patrol says in a report.

As a result, Dietze was taken by helicopter to a hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.

Hubbard Fire and EMT’s along with the Hardin county sheriff’s office assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene.
