Mason City man sent to prison for 10 years for lascivious acts with a child

MASON CITY – A Mason City man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on a charge of felony lascivious acts with a child.

On the evening of January 19, 2018, Mason City police went to a residence at 1444 North Federal Avenue to serve a warrant on 58-year-old Patrick Laverne Holt. After an investigation, Mason City police have accused Holt of felony lascivious acts with a child – fondle or touch, for a crime he allegedly committed in Mason City back in June of 2014.

On June 20, Holt was released under the supervision of the Department of Corrections. He was also served with a no-contact order to avoid the alleged victim in the case.

A jury trial was scheduled for May 22, 2018. Later, Holt made requests to leave the state, which a judge denied. This week, Holt was sentenced to 10 years in prison after victim impact statements were read in court. He’s now awaiting transport to an Iowa prison.
