Mason City man sent to prison for 10 years for lascivious acts with a child
MASON CITY – A Mason City man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on a charge of felony lascivious acts with a child.
On the evening of January 19, 2018, Mason City police went to a residence at 1444 North Federal Avenue to serve a warrant on 58-year-old Patrick Laverne Holt. After an investigation, Mason City police have accused Holt of felony lascivious acts with a child – fondle or touch, for a crime he allegedly committed in Mason City back in June of 2014.
On June 20, Holt was released under the supervision of the Department of Corrections. He was also served with a no-contact order to avoid the alleged victim in the case.
A jury trial was scheduled for May 22, 2018. Later, Holt made requests to leave the state, which a judge denied. This week, Holt was sentenced to 10 years in prison after victim impact statements were read in court. He’s now awaiting transport to an Iowa prison.

For anonymous who knows the girl and believes in his innocence… I don’t care what you think. If she is a troubled girl, perhaps what he did to her has contributed to her behavior. Why don’t you spend some time learning what happens to these kids emotionally and physically so you have a better understanding of the damage these sexual predators do. You seem to think his behavior is okay because she provoked it?

Why don’t you wake up and find out the truth before shooting off your do gooder mouth. She has been trouble all her life. Parents are druggers and she has no guidance and never has had. Many police calls to that house.

I do not consider myself to be a do gooder. I will admit that I know nothing about this case other than what I see in the news. I was not at the trial. I don’t know if you were either. I was not present when he said “I was only alone with her for 10 minutes. I thought she just wanted attention”. Were you? If you weren’t present you cannot be 100 % certain that this did not happen, nor can I say it did with 100% certainty. My point I tried to make is you seem to think he has no culpability. If you all knew “she was trouble” he should have never put himself into that position. But to say a child that age asked for it is preposterous.

Excuse me!,, she was 10 or 11 at the time? And he is 58! What is wrong with you if you think she is the one at fault here. If he admitted to molesting her that should mean he is guilty. Sad, this probably isn’t the first time offended. He is going where he belongs.

He didn’t admit anything. The girl is a known liar and the parents won’t let her play with their kids because of the way she is.

What part don’t you get!!’ She’s a young girl and he is a grown man. This is what pedophiles do. Just hope no one close to you ever has to suffer through an experience like this.

You don’t even know the girl and we do. We see her all the time and know what she is capable of.

Why was he found guilty if “you” know he didn’t do it. Were “you” present at all times?
