RURAL FERTILE, IOWA – A house in rural Worth county burned Thursday morning, causing what appeared to be a total loss of the structure.

Around 9:30 AM Thursday morning, July 5, a report of smoke at 3515 Eagle Avenue, just North of Fertile, was called in to authorities.

Soon, many fire departments from nearby communities in Worth County were involved in maintaining the fire. Clear Lake and Forest City departments were asked for more water tanks as Firefighers from Manly, Hanlontown and others were at the scene.

At 2:30 PM, workers from Hanlontown were controlling the fire and letting it burn. Smoke could be seen for miles as the house was being burned to the ground. Flames could still be seen at 5:30 PM as family and friends watched.

Records show the house is owned by Bradley and Nancy Suby and had a net assessed Value of $134,854.
