Convicted robber from Black Hawk county dies in prison

IOWA CITY – A convicted robber from Black Hawk county who robbed a convenience store wearing a Halloween mask died in prison this weekend, authorities say.

Yvonne Myrna Joshua was pronounced dead due to acute medical complications at 8:50 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospital where she had been hospitalized for complications following surgery. Joshua was 58 years old at the time of her death.

Joshua had been incarcerated since 2004 for the crime of Robbery 1st Degree from Black Hawk County. According to the Waterloo Courier, Joshua and her husband wore Halloween masks when they entered a Waterloo convenience store to rob the place. She attacked a good samaritan with a box cutter, the report says, before they were subdued. At sentencing, her lawyer told the court, “This is a death sentence for her, she’s going to die in prison.”

‘She attacked an good samaritan with a box cutter’. That sounds like attempted murder. Should never be out in society again be wise of that.

If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime. On the positive side, it will now save tax payers 50,000.00 a year.
