MASON CITY – Shots were fired in Mason City Thursday evening from one vehicle at another, leading to a police investigation and some possible suspects being questioned.
On Thursday, June 21, 2018, at approximately 6:17 p.m., Mason City Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting near the 1700 block of 4th Street SE. The incident involved shots being fired from at least one vehicle at another vehicle. Based on information known to police at this time, it appears the shooting scene was confined to the 200 block of South Ohio Avenue.
A short time after the call came in, a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Deputy located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was stopped and the occupants were transported to the Mason City Police Department. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle. At this point, the incident remains under investigation and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
