Transgender people must be afforded care under Medicaid, judge rules

DES MOINES – Transgender people must be afforded care under Medicaid, an Iowa judge has ruled.

According to the Iowa ACLU, Carol Ann Beal and EerieAnna Good has sued to get sex-change surgeries under Medicaid after they were denied the services. Iowa Department of Human Services had police in place for decades that won’t allow transgender surgeries. However, District Court Judge Arthur Gamble struck down the ban, ruling the ban violated the Iowa Civil Rights Act, as well as the Iowa Constitution Equal Protection Guarantee.

In his ruling, Gamble noted, “DHS is excluding Iowa Medicaid coverage for surgical treatment of Gender Dysphoria purely on the basis that it is treatment of Gender Dysphoria of transgender individuals. DHS does not explain why the medical necessity of requests for sex reassignment surgeries could not simply be evaluated under the same criteria as other requested surgeries or treatment of non-transgender individuals.”

Put them in labor camp and them work maybe sweat will make them come to reality. You are what you are born as.

Treat them for mental illness and not the rest.

So does Medicaid pay for obese patients to have skin reduction after weight loss? I have heard not. Is it okay to discriminate against this group of people. This creates medical issues that need to be addresssed fot these people. Let’s be fair and treat all individuals as people regardless of race and gender.
