Waterloo man arrested after string of burglaries in Oelwein

OELWEIN – A Waterloo ma n is behind bars, accused of a string of burglaries in Oelwein, police say.

The Oelwein Police Department has made an arrest in connection to several area business burglaries that have occurred over the past week.

Oelwein Police have arrested Brian Jon Latham, 49, of Waterloo, in connection with burglaries and attempted burglaries that occurred in the 900 block of South Frederick, the 1900 block of South Frederick, the 2300 block of South Frederick, the 600 block of Rock Island Road, the 100 block of 13th Avenue NW and the 400 block of 4th Street NE.

Latham was arrested at 1:40 a.m. on June 8, 2018, in the 2100 block of South Frederick. Latham also had an active Black Hawk County warrant for Voluntary Absence from Custody.

Latham has been charged with:

1) Burglary 3rd Degree – Four (4) counts – Class D Felony
2) Attempted Burglary 3rd Degree – Three (3) counts – Aggravated Misdemeanor
3) Possession of Burglar’s Tools – Aggravated Misdemeanor
The investigation continues and further charges are pending. Latham is being held pending a court appearance.
